Process

He mostly creates fantasy, noir book covers and posters. Paper-cut, digital, lettering. Mostly works with silhouettes and limited color palettes. He does research into the book he's been hired to design, reading the book and getting a feel for the core elements of the book. Will puts together various mood mood boards and thumbnails. He'll come up with various mock ups and comps and send them in for approval or for more suggestions. When he gets feedback, he'll redo the comps to come up with the final design.

This book cover has a Lego design made of it.

He didn't think they were going to go with this design, as they had originally chosen him because of the more fantasy related illustrations he'd don, but the author liked it so much she got a tattoo of the design.
